Child Octopus

Child Octopus

I shoot this baby octopus while diving at night in the La Jolla Cove from January 13, 2008. Water temperature. The 52 digrees alive.

In some countries, octopuses are on the list of animals that can perform the surgery without anesthesia. In the UK, cephalopods such as octopus and vertebrates are considered Honorary under Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and other cruelty to animals legislation, extending protection not normally be granted for invertebrates.

The general belief is that when you are stressed, an octopus may begin to eat its own arms. However, research has shown little in this area that the reason for this abnormal behavior, called autophagy, may be a virus attacks the nervous system of Octopus. Thus, this behavior can be more correctly described as a neurological disorder.
